He finally reaches Sita in Ashok Vatika, where she is held captive by Ravana and his demonesses. Hanuman reassures Sita that Rama will soon come to rescue her and gives her Rama's ring as a sign of his presence. He then wreaks havoc in Lanka by destroying Ravana's palace and army. He also confronts Ravana and advises him to release Sita and surrender to Rama. Ravana, however, refuses to listen and orders his soldiers to set fire to Hanuman's tail. Hanuman escapes from his bonds and uses his burning tail to set Lanka on fire. He then returns to Rama with the good news of finding Sita.
